Our entry grade at Khalifa City Campus is Minis*, called Pre-K or FS1 at other schools. Children must be 3 years of age on or before 31 December to be eligible for Minis.

*note that Minis will close at the end of the 2026-27 academic year.

From 2027-28, the entry grade will be Early Years 1 (EY1), called KG1 or FS2 at other schools. Children must be 4 years of age on or before 31 December to be eligible for EY1.

In 2025, the Ministry of Education announced that the age cut-off date for new students joining Pre-K, EY1, EY2 and Grade 1 is 31 December.

KCC is an inclusive school and we provide a wide range of services provided by our qualified staff.

KCC will admit students with chronic health conditions and mild to moderate special education needs.

Please note: there may be an additional charge for this service depending upon the age and level of support required. This charge could be up to 50% of basic school fees in accordance with ADEK policy.

Because of the international nature of the IB, it is generally possible to move easily from one curriculum to another, making it an attractive option for families moving frequently from country to country.

The IB curriculum in Primary and Secondary is focused on the development of skills and approaches to learning, rather than just the accumulation of facts which allows new students to integrate seamlessly.

Grade 11 is the last year, KCC will accept students transferring from another curriculum as the Diploma Programme is a two year programme comprising both Grade 11 and Grade 12.

The IB is recognized by education systems around the world, which is also important if your family will be changing back to another curriculum in the future.

We open applications one year before the start of the new academic year. Please watch our website for the exact opening date every year. It is very easy to apply. Just fill in the online application form at the website, no documents are needed to apply.

There are IB World Schools in nearly 150 countries throughout the world, and students send exam results to higher education institutions in nearly 90 countries annually.

Research suggests that in many cases, students in International Baccalaureate® (IB) programmes perform better than students taking other qualifications.

For example:

• A global study investigating performance in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) found that IB students outperformed their non-IB peers in mathematics, reading, narrative writing and expository writing.
• Qualitative data from a 2014 study on the IB Diploma Programme (DP) in the USA suggested that students who participated in the DP during high school are more academically adjusted to the rigour and expectations of college.

The IB regularly publishes this kind of research. The IB website has several studies looking at the impact of IB programmes, and many currently in progress.

We know waiting can be difficult, and we truly appreciate you choosing Raha KCC for your family.

Our school is in high demand and operates at or close to full capacity. This means a new place becomes available only when a current student moves on. As this can happen at different points in the year, we will contact you as soon as a suitable place opens for your child.

When allocating places, we first welcome siblings of current students and children of our staff. All other applications are then considered in order of application date, alongside a holistic review of each child’s profile, so that every family receives fair and careful consideration.

If a place does not become available this year, your application will not carry over to the next academic year. We warmly encourage you to apply again, and as early as possible, as the date of application is one of the factors we consider. Our Admissions team is always happy to talk through your options with you.

You will hear from us when a seat becomes available. We usually begin to inform families of openings between November and June based on availability at that time. Between March and June we conduct the re-registration of our current students and will learn of more openings. Applications will be kept on the waiting list until Term 1 should we have any last minute openings.

The admissions team is able to give you an update on your application at any time and you are always welcome to contact us..

Our waiting lists stay active until ADEK closes the transfer date between schools in Abu Dhabi. Transfers from outside the emirate and overseas are possible until the end of Term 2 as long as the required documentation is provided prior to the start of Term 3.

You are welcome to apply for another child to join the school at any time, however, in order to guarantee your sibling application is considered for the next academic year, you must apply before 31 October.

If you apply after this date, you will still receive sibling priority, but availability may be more limited.

Raha International School, Khalifa City Campus does not assign a waitlist number to any application. However, staff and siblings will always receive the first priority and all other applications are considered thereafter.

The only fee you will have to pay on acceptance is the 5% registration fee which will then be discounted against your annual tuition fees.

Children applying for Grade 2-11 may take an admissions assessment here at Raha or from overseas.

It is a computerized assessment that looks at general ability in

• English
• Math
• Non-verbal reasoning

The assessment results along with the child’s report card will give important information to the Head of School regarding the child’s areas of strength and weakness and ability to be successful in the curriculum.

It is the same assessment that is used internally and also provides a baseline for assessing progress once the child is admitted.

Once you have been invited to submit additional documents for your child and/or he/she has taken the admissions assessment, we aim to have an answer to you within 1 week.

If we are experiencing any delays, or require further information, the Admissions Team will be in touch.

There is no assessment for Early Years, but we do like to invite families to a ‘Stay and Play’ session at our school where you can learn more about us, and we can learn more about you and your child.

ADEK publishes a closing date every year for transfers between schools in Abu Dhabi. Historically this has been in October for Term 1, and February for Term 2, but you should always check with the Admissions Office for the most up-to-date information.

Applications from overseas are accepted mid-year subject to availability. Note that full residency documentation must be submitted within one month of arrival and before the end of March as per ADEK policy.

Children transferring from the British system to KCC will not have to repeat a grade. They will be placed in the equivalent next grade. It is important to note that British schools have a different numbering system as they start school one year earlier.

Families are encouraged to use the equivalency chart on our website to ensure that they are applying to the correct grade level, taking into account the differences that exist in the naming of grades or years around the world.

Orientation for students in Early Years 2 to Grade 11: Students will be invited in for a short amount of time on orientation day to meet their teachers and some of their peers, and be shown around the school. Parents will also be invited to join a short presentation by the Leadership teams. Bus service will begin for students from the 2nd or 3rd day of the first week, depending on the grade.

Orientation for students joining Minis and Early Years 1: Students joining Minis and EY1 will have a staggered start to their school year, which normally means they will join the school for 1-2 hours on the 2nd day of the week and build up to a full day over the course of the week. Parents are invited to join a short presentation by the Leadership teams on the 1st day of the week, however, EY1s cannot attend. Bus service will start in the 2nd week for EY1 students.

Mid-year entry: There is no formal orientation day for students joining mid-year, however, families will be introduced to key staff and students will have a mini orientation on their first day to ensure they settle in and make friends.

At Raha International School, Khalifa City Campus, a Taaleem school, we follow the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.

Both campuses are located in the suburb of Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi.

The original Gardens Campus is located in the middle of the Raha Gardens development, and only 7 minutes’ drive away sits the new Khalifa City Campus in the heart of Khalifa City, near Central Mall/Safeer Supermarket.

On Fridays, the school day ends at 11:30am for all students.

In Minis, there are a maximum of 21 children per class.

In Early Years 1 and Early Years 2 there are 24 maximum per class.

In Grades 1 to 10, there are a maximum of 26 per class.

In Grades 11 and 12 class size is determined based on the subjects that the student has selected and are capped at 26 per class.

KCC also uses SchoolsBuddy for communication regarding the Extra-curricular Programme (ECP), competitive sports, excursions and event sign-ups.

Yes, Raha has a strict uniform policy for all students.

You may purchase the new uniform through Magrudy’s online or in store at Forsan Mall located on the second floor.

A door-to-door bus service is available to and from many areas of Abu Dhabi. This transport service incurs an additional charge of AED 5,000* per academic year and is offered by the external provider, Seven Stars School Buses Transportation.

The overall language of instruction is English.

All students are taught Arabic from EY1.

From Grade 6, French and Spanish are added into the curriculum for non-native Arabic speakers, of which students select 1.

From Grade 11 Ab Initio (beginners), Spanish is also available.

For native Arabic speakers in Secondary, there may be an option of taking French or Spanish part-time that will give them the experience of enjoying a third language without needing to be MYP assessed. This will only be confirmed at the beginning of the academic year.

All school must teach three compulsory subjects consistent with the Ministry as follows:

• Islamic Education is a compulsory subject from Grade 1 to the end of the Secondary stage for all Muslim students and is an optional subject for non-Muslim students.
• The Arabic Language subject is a compulsory subject from Grade 1 to the end of the Secondary stage for all native Arabic speakers. The Arabic Language subject is compulsory for all students from Grade 1 to Grade 10 for non-native speakers and optional thereafter. The Arabic Language subject must be taken in Grades 11 and 12 in order to meet the equivalency requirements of the UAE’s general secondary education certificate (Al Thanawiya).
• Social Studies is a compulsory subject from Grade 1 to Grade 9 for all students.
• Moral Education is a compulsory subject from Grade 1 to Grade 12 for all students.

Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies is not compulsory for students in Early Years 1 and 2 however, as a school we offer Arabic from these years. Students will take Islamic and Social Studies only from Grade 1.

In Early Years 1, native and non-native speakers will have one shared Arabic class a week.

In Early Years 2, native Arabic speakers will attend two Arabic classes a week. Non-native Arabic speakers will attend one class per week.

We offer an ‘English as an Additional Language’ (EAL) programme for students.

This programme is offered to students who emigrate from different countries, have English as their second or third language or have varying levels of English. Once a student reaches a ‘high-intermediate’ level they can exit the programme. Their progress is continually monitored thereafter.

The EAL programme does not incur an additional charge.

Raha International School, Khalifa City Campus is a co-educational school. Male and female students are segregated for PE and swimming classes only from Grade 3 and above.
